Punjab Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal confirmed that two suspects have been identified in connection with the grenade explosion outside Thakurdwara Temple in Amritsar’s Khandwala area early on Saturday.

Addressing the incident, Dhaliwal stated, “There were miscreants who hurled a grenade at the temple after midnight. Fortunately, there are no injuries or casualties, and the situation is under control.” He assured the public that the authorities were acting swiftly, adding, “The police are taking action, and they will be caught within a day.”

CCTV footage captured two masked men on a motorcycle lobbing an object, suspected to be an explosive, towards the temple. While the blast caused panic, no injuries were reported, and police quickly initiated an investigation.

Amritsar Commissioner GPS Bhullar has raised concerns about the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI in the incident, stating, “We received information at 2 a.m. and reached the site immediately. The forensic team was called, and we reviewed the CCTV footage. ISI is attempting to incite disturbances by luring youth in Punjab.”

He assured that the case would be resolved swiftly, adding, “We will catch the culprits soon and warn the youth not to ruin their lives.”

The explosion occurred just days after an attack at the Golden Temple, where five people were injured when an assailant attacked them with an iron rod at the Shri Guru Ramdas Sarai.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann commented on the broader issue of peace in the state, saying that attempts to disturb Punjab’s peace were ongoing, but emphasized that the law and order situation in the state remains strong.
